Update from the frontline

Update, May 4

  • Safely moved over 200 children from institutions in Kyiv and Chernivtsi
  • Provided food, hygienic products, nappies, baby formula and clothes for over 200 families
  • Provided educational material, tablets and mobile devices for over 50 children in Ukraine to continue online school
  • Launched a special program for Ukrainian families with small children taking refuge in Bulgaria. Two social workers and two translators are helping over 100 families with small children with disabilities or developmental challenges. They will also provide material support and help them through the period of adaptation in Bulgaria, ensuring they receive social, health, legislation and other assistance.

Update, March 21

  • 50 foster and kinship families with small children were evacuated in Western Ukraine and Europe
  • 3 families from Mariupol were successfully evacuated
  • 1350 families received financial and humanitarian support
  • The team (FOC) is taking care of 160 babies from social institutions
  • We (FOC's team) plan to go to the border next week and hand over 2 donated cars full of humanitarian support

Update, March 14

  • We safely moved 155 children (0-4 years) from social institutions in Kyiv and Chernivtsi to a safer place in the western parts of Ukraine.
  • Distributed humanitarian support to foster children and families that have been displaced – food, water, hygiene products, medicine, clothes, etc.
  • Placed two teams of psychologists and family therapists in Bulgaria where over 40,000 Ukrainian families (1/3rd of which are children) have taken refuge.

The conflict continues to put the safety and well-being of millions at risk.

We
urgently need more nappies, baby formula, baby food and medicines; and we are also gathering resources for educational and learning materials and access to mental health and social workers to support children who have been forced to flee their homes.

Please donate to deliver vital support to children and families who have been forced to flee their homes.

100% of funds raised will be transferred to the Alliance of Partnerships for Every Child, a group of grassroots organisations working on the front line with families in Ukraine, as well as refugees in Bulgaria and Moldova. They have already been supporting foster children and families in Ukraine for many years, and so have direct contact with people in need.

Ukraine’s 7.5 million children and their families are now at risk. Explosions have caused thousands to leave their homes, and over 1 million have fled the country.

Today we have launched our Children in Crisis Appeal to support the families in the region that urgently need your help.

Please donate to deliver vital support including:

  • Emergency food and medication
  • Essential transportation away from conflict
  • Psychological support
  • Legal counsel
  • Phones and data packages
