A Rwandan model for reintegrating children into their communities

Children separated from their families can be at a higher risk of dangerous situations and adverse life outcomes; but reintegrating children who return to their communities or families of origin also needs to be approached carefully in order for it to be successful in the long term. Uyisenga ni Imanzi, the Family for Every Child member organisation in Rwanda, has developed a comprehensive model for enabling this to happen. Read more

Colombia has experienced decades of internal conflict between the government and armed groups. This conflict has involved children in different ways. Some have been forced to flee from their homes and communities, whilst others have been recruited as child soldiers. Our Colombian member, Taller de Vida, is working to change that. Read more

Digital storytelling is a creative, potentially transformative, participatory process which can help us gain deeper understanding into the multiple and complex ways that people’s lives are affected by the family experience. Storytellers from India, Kenya, Mexico, Egypt, Guyana, Russia, South Africa and Brazil made and shared these heartfelt experiences that illustrate the importance of family. Read more

Storytellers from Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Rwanda and Zimbabwe made and shared heartfelt experiences that illustrate the importance of family. While most of the storytellers are children, some are adults; demonstrating that the need for family support does not end with childhood. Our decision to use digital storytelling is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring decision-makers acknowledge the importance and complexity of ‘family’ in policy making at the global and national level. Empowering communities to fight child trafficking

Family for Every Child’s member organisation in Ethiopia, FSCE, is making great strides in tackling child trafficking in Ethiopia. One way they are doing this is by equipping community members at key transport hubs with what they need to effectively intercept traffickers at these key locations, so children’s lives take a dramatic turn for the better.
